Researchers at Columbia University, whose research is published in the journal Cell, found a brain circuit of leptin and serotonin which simultaneously promotes the appetite and increase bone mass.
When this circuit is activated in mice, their appetite increases, they eat more, gain weight and bone mass increases. When it is turned off, they eat less, lose weight and their bones weaken.
